Copperstate Machine and Industrial Services LLC is expanding its installation and service team to serve water and wastewater clients across the United States. We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to build, manage, and scale a high-performing field production system.
This role manages both production and people, ensuring jobs are planned, staffed, executed, documented, and closed correctly. A successful Production Manager operates with high ownership and integrity, focusing on building capable leaders, planning capacity ahead of demand, removing roadblocks, and refining operational systems rather than routinely acting as a firefighter or performing field labor.
Daily (7:47 AM Huddle, 10 to 15 minutes): Review active job status, daily priorities, a 2 to 4 week lookahead, labor performance, documentation, and roadblock removal. Update schedules daily.
Weekly (Level 10 Tactical Meeting, 60 to 90 minutes): Review scorecards covering labor hours, schedule, safety, gross margin, and callbacks; a 4 to 8 week lookahead; assign actionable to-dos; and resolve root cause issues using IDS.
Monthly: Conduct job profitability reviews with Project Management. Analyze estimated versus actual hours, overtime, rework, safety trends, and apprentice development. Select one to three operational issues to permanently fix.
Quarterly: Evaluate team structure using the Accountability Chart and GWC framework, forecast backlog capacity, set three to five Rocks, review SOPs and playbooks, and eliminate top operational constraints.
Annual: Participate in strategic capacity planning, convert revenue targets into required field labor and equipment plans, update succession pipelines, and establish key operational priorities.
Manage production execution rather than routinely performing field labor.
Intervene when safety is compromised, resource conflicts arise, jobs exceed budget, or customer escalations occur.
Avoid routinely filling basic manpower gaps, running parts, or taking over routine field tasks that belong to Team Leads.
