Job summary

Amcor in United States, Iowa seeks a Production Manager responsible for ensuring production quality, correct processes, safety, and cost control. You will lead training across all levels and work with the Process Engineer to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include staffing, scheduling, meeting production targets, and managing daily production reports while controlling spend and improving efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience including plant supervision, quality control, maintenance, and production management.
  • Team player with team-building skills.
  • Experience with Nissei/Aoki/Sidel/Husky operations and technical processing skills.
  • Good computer and administration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and develops production staff, ensuring quality and safety.
  • Plans workflows, staffing, and scheduling to meet output targets.
  • Manages costs, reduces waste, and optimizes resource use.
  • Oversees hiring, training, and daily production reporting.
  • Leads CIP projects and applies metrics to corrective actions.
  • Fosters teamwork and clearly defines roles to achieve goals.

Job Description

Production Manager is accountable for production quality, correct process, safety, daily preventive maintenance by machines, cost control, efficiency, scheduling, and training for all levels to assure constant improvement and development. Works collaboratively with the Process Engineer and other managers to make certain that employees are properly trained in specific machine operations.

  • Controls spending to budgeted levels
  • Audits QA, GMP, Scrap, HFI, and production methods
  • Verifies cycle times, process sheets, and downtime logs

  • Fosters team cooperation

Engages in CIP Process
  • Works to identify/develop CIP projects based on key business needs

Position Requirements
  • Must know and follow all GMP/ASI/IMS/ISO/SQF procedures.
  • Must be able to work safely and follow safety rules and JSA procedures.
  • Must be able to identify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Must be able to wear protective clothing such as a hair net, uniform, steel-toe shoes, gloves, and earplugs.
  • Must be able to effectively respond in emergency situations such as fires and accidents.
  • Must be able to follow all department procedures and directives.
  • All of the above are essential job functions.

Reports directly to Plant Manager

Qualification Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Operations management, engineering or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience, which includes plant supervision, quality control, maintenance, and production management.
  • Special Skills/Traits/Characteristics for a successful candidate to possess:
    • Team player with demonstrated team-building skills
    • Experience in Nissei/Aoki/Sidel/Husky operations with technical processing skills.
    • Good computer skills and administration skills.
