Production ManagerSummary:
Under the direct supervision of the Plant Manager, manage all plant operations for production-related activities. Additional responsibilities will include but not limited to: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Cost Improvement, Employee Relations / Team Building and Performance Measurement.
Production Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure product is processed to company HACCP/HARPC programs
Partnering with Quality Assurance and stay compliant with all food safety requirements
Ability to implement and manage food safety corrective actions
Understand management priorities and handle them with urgency and competence
Ensure production team is properly trained and job functions are clearly defined
Promote, maintain, and enforce safe and healthy working conditions for all employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and Company standards
Partner with Human Resources to hire and retain a quality workforce
Responsible for retention through coaching, counseling, disciplining, training, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Ensure strict adherence to finished quality specifications for every production run
Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve upon performance standards
Learn the operation, adjustment, and minor repairs of all production equipment
Follow health, safety, and cleanliness standards
Excellent attendance and punctuality for a salaried position
Handle any minor tasks related to the duties of the position
Production Manager Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum of 5 years leadership experience required
Minimum 5 years in manufacturing required
Detailed knowledge of GMP’s in a food production environment preferred
Experience with process improvement methodologies and a commitment to continuous improvement preferred
Excellent understanding of mechanical and standardized processes preferred
High-level leadership and decision-making skills
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
Safety-conscious and knowledgeable, as well as able to balance productivity and quality
Ability to communicate effectively in English and navigate conversations effectively in other languages
Ability to manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow through
Production Manager Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
This role would require the ability to lift 10-35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally.
This role operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (around 38 degrees Fahrenheit) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production-type facility. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for duration of shift.
