Job summary

TreeHouse Foods in Lancaster, PA is seeking a Production Manager to lead the Lancaster pretzel production floor, drive safety, quality and efficiency, and manage a team of supervisors, operators and workers.

Ideal candidate has a high school diploma (Bachelor's preferred), 5+ years in production with 3+ in supervision, proficiency with SAP and MS Office, and Lean/continuous improvement experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in production; at least 3 years in supervision.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, quality control, and inventory management.
  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to supervisors and team members to meet production targets.
  • Coordinate production workflows, monitor lines, and ensure resources are available.
  • Promote safety-first culture and ensure compliance with food safety/quality standards.
  • Champion CI/LEAN initiatives and drive employee engagement and teamwork.
  • Monitor worker performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues with QC and engineering teams.
  • Monitor processes to prevent defects and reduce waste.
  • Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Keep production area clean, organized, and compliant with regs.
  • Prepare and submit production performance reports regularly.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Contribute to plant-wide strategic initiatives as part of the Plant Steering Team.

Job Description:

As a Production Manager, you will be a key player in shaping a supportive and engaging work environment for the Lancaster, PA plant, a manufacturer of quality pretzels. Your role will directly impact the success of the site by ensuring smooth production operations, by overseeing and managing the daily operations of the production floor.

You will lead a team of supervisors, operators, and workers, focusing on maximizing productivity, minimizing downtime, and maintaining high safety and quality standards, making a meaningful difference in the day-to-day experience of employees.

You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to production supervisors and team members, including assigning tasks and ensuring production targets and schedules are met.
  • Coordinate production workflows, monitor production lines, and ensure equipment and materials are available.
  • Lead and promote a safety-first culture by actively supporting the site’s Health & Safety program and provide leadership while ensuring compliance with all Food Safety and Quality requirements.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement (CI) activities and foster an environment of employee engagement, empowerment, and teamwork, particularly in relation to CI, LEAN, and other change-driven areas.
  • Monitor and evaluate worker performance and provide constructive feedback, including corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues, collaborating with quality control and engineering teams as necessary.
  • Monitor production processes to prevent defects and minimize waste.
  • Oversee routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and machinery to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Ensure the production area is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, or monthly reports on production performance, including any issues or improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all company and plant policies and procedures, including collective bargaining agreements (if applicable).
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plant-wide initiatives.
  • Serve as an active member of the Plant Steering Team, contributing to site strategy, performance, and continuous improvement objectives.
Important Details:
  • The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $97,500 to $146,300 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.
  • This is a full-time, on-site role on first shift, Monday through Friday. Occasional flexibility is required to support alternate shifts and weekends.
You’ll fit right in if you have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production or food manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role is required.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, quality control procedures, and inventory management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and procurement software such as SAP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
