Job description

The Production Manager will plan, organize and control production in a safe, efficient and effective manner, consistently exceeding on time, within budget and to productivity standard. This requires overall production coordination, scheduling, health and safety, quality assurance, coaching and development, and continuous improvement activities within the process areas. Responsible for consistently exceeding safety standards in producing highest quality defect‑free products with most efficient use of resources in the industry. The Production Manager complies with policies, regulations and values for safety, quality, environmental and financial stewardship.

  • Takes ownership of workplace safety, occupational health, and food safety initiatives.
  • Ability to develop, analyze and maintain budgets
  • Drivers of safety/environmental self‑audits & visual checks, champions all safety or ergonomic activities for the department and helps to develop and meet plant safety goals.
  • Ensures understanding of and compliance with all food safety, USDA, HACCP, and Company policies, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Champion safety and quality efforts with department leads and ensure appropriate relative training activities are completed as well as motivate others to be active in these areas.
  • Develop and implement best practices and procedures in areas of safety, environment, productivity and waste that support the organization’s commitment to our employees and customers.
  • Analyze production and resource costs to develop and execute plant manufacturing budgets as well as workforce requirements.
  • Monitor and enhance plant performance. This includes reviewing operation expenses and researching ways to reduce costs while maintaining optimal levels of production and quality and may also include recommending improvements to production and inventory control programs to ensure efficient plant operations.
  • Provide high‑level oversight to all aspects of daily operations to ensure operations remain on track to meet financial, production, quality, safety and environmental goals. This requires leading collaboration efforts between departments to ensure proper coordination of production, distribution and warehousing.
  • Create, set and manage daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals across all areas of production.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency, maintain quality and ensure continuous improvement and administration of policies, systems, and procedures.
  • Possess the ability to lead and motivate a team of people to succeed by utilizing appropriate interpersonal styles including leading by example, setting objectives and defining responsibilities to give a clear sense of direction
  • Work out and implement standard operating procedures for production operations
  • Establish consistent execution of established staffing model and schedule by assuring team meets staffing requirements, and managing start, stop, and transition times for optimal productivity.

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, preferred
  • Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus, not required
  • Minimum 5–7-year experience on the field (Food Industry is a plus)
  • Excellent knowledge on USDA and FDA Regulations is a plus
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
