Job Overview

Our Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production operation for our Converting Tissue Lines. This role will lead production supervisors, operators, and support personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality manufacturing operations while meeting customer demand and company objectives. The Production Manager will plan, organize, direct, and recommend strategies to achieve operational excellence through safety, productivity, quality, employee development, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Manager is accountable for overall plant production performance, staffing, operational efficiencies, and team leadership.

Primary Accountabilities and Deliverables
  • Lead daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and customer expectations are achieved.
  • Manage and develop Production Supervisors and production team members.
  • Establish production priorities and coordinate manpower and equipment utilization by planning lines to meet scheduling requirements.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust operations based on production demands and business needs.
  • Ensure all production lines are operating efficiently and meeting expected run rates and OEE targets.
  • Drive accountability for attendance, employee performance, and workplace conduct.
  • Lead employee coaching, corrective actions, performance evaluations, and employee development initiatives.
  • Coordinate onboarding and training programs for new employees and ongoing development for existing team members.
  • Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and Planning departments to ensure operational alignment.
  • Review production changeovers and startup procedures for efficiency and quality compliance.
  • Analyze production data and KPI’s to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing and 5S programs.
  • Monitor downtime events and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities for production losses.
  • Ensure accurate reporting within ERP systems for production output, downtime, scrap, labor utilization, and inventory transactions.
  • Monitor waste levels and implement corrective actions to improve efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive housekeeping and organization standards throughout the production areas.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and scheduling coverage for all shifts.
  • Participate in budgeting, labor planning, and operational forecasting activities.
  • Support capital improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
  • Maintain strong communication across all shifts and departments.
  • Promote a positive culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Plant Manager as needed.

  • Work closely with Quality department to address product concerns and corrective actions.
Technical
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze production data and implement process improvements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to interpret production reports, specifications, procedures, and operational data.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.
Safety
  • Lead by example and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture where safety is the top operational priority.
  • Ensure all team members follow PPE requirements and safe work practices.
  • Drive safety improvements and actively participate in safety programs and investigations.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
Requirements
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and machine scheduling software preferred.
  • 7+ Years Manufacturing Experience Required.
  • 5+ Years of Leadership or Management Experience Required.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
  • College degree preferred; Engineering, Operations, or Business Management preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and on‑call as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of production manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, 6S, and Continuous Improvement experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of production KPI’s including OEE, downtime, waste, labor efficiency, and throughput.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle or similar) preferred.
  • ISO 9001, HACCP, CCP, and SQF experience preferred.
  • Strong employee development and team‑building skills.
Licensing & Certification Requirements
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications preferred.
  • Food Safety Certifications preferred.
