Job description

We are working with a rapidly growing advanced materials company developing next-generation metal alloys and manufacturing processes for applications across space, aerospace, defence, energy and industrial markets.

The business is now moving from R&D and prototyping into scaled production and is looking for a Production Manager to help establish and lead this manufacturing capability.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who has experience starting up manufacturing operations, managing external production partners and transferring new technologies from development into production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commissioning and day-to-day operation of new pilot manufacturing facilities.
  • Establish and implement production SOPs and operating procedures, particularly around powder handling, pressing and sintering.
  • Manage production of prototype and early-stage customer parts, ensuring delivery, quality and specification requirements are met.
  • Manage external toll manufacturers, contract manufacturers and processing partners across powder production, pressing, sintering and machining.
  • Manage purchase orders, production forecasts, supplier requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Work closely with R&D and Engineering to transfer new processes and materials into production.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive improvements in process reliability, throughput and quality.
  • Monitor production performance across safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Manage raw material, WIP and finished-goods inventory.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in production/manufacturing leadership.
  • Experience building, commissioning or scaling a manufacturing operation, ideally within a start-up or new-technology environment.
  • Experience managing contract or toll manufacturing partners.
  • Strong hands-on manufacturing and technical problem-solving experience.
  • Powder metallurgy, sintering, pressing or advanced materials experience would be highly valuable.
  • APQP / PPAP experience.
  • ISO 9000 or AS9100 quality environments.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Experience with technology transfer, process validation or supplier qualification.
The Opportunity

This is a chance to take significant ownership of a manufacturing operation at a company commercialising genuinely new materials technology. The role sits between engineering, production, suppliers and R&D, with the opportunity to help take a process from prototype stage through to repeatable commercial manufacturing.

Compensation includes competitive salary, equity, comprehensive health/dental/vision benefits, flexible working and unlimited PTO.
