Job summary

SunOpta, Inc. is seeking a Production Maintenance Technician I for night shifts at the Alexandria, MN facility.

The role focuses on efficient maintenance and repair of extraction, mix-blend, processing, filling, and production equipment to support continuous operations. You will perform planned, corrective, and unplanned maintenance, troubleshoot with available documentation, and uphold safety and quality standards while maintaining an organized work area and coordinating with the maintenance

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or GED; two+ years related experience in a food-grade facility.
  • Mechatronics / Aseptic processing and high-speed form/fill/seal packaging preferred.
  • Knowledge of HMIs, PLCs, and manufacturing controls.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Performs planned, corrective and unplanned maintenance on specified equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment using available documentation.
  • Ensures safety in the workplace and maintains a clean, organized area.
  • Supports Quality Systems.
  • Executes the preventive maintenance program as directed by the supervisor.
  • Inspects machines and equipment for conformance with standards.

Job Summary:

Production Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing efficient maintenance and repair of all extraction, mix-blend, processing, filling and production equipment. Conducts preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and assisting with other projects as assigned reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Performs planned, corrective and unplanned maintenance on specified equipment.
  • Uses available documentation for equipment to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Ensure safety in the workplace by eliminating unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Supports Quality Systems.
  • Protect Company assets by the direct intervention of any condition resulting in the abuse of equipment or buildings.
  • Executes the preventive maintenance program as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Maintains communication (oral and written) within the maintenance team to ensure smooth shift transitions.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Education/ Experience:

High school diploma, or GED; two or more years related experience in a food grade facility. Mechatronics / Aseptic processing and high-speed form/fill/seal packaging preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Math Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform in this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of business software, and manufacturing software (HMIs, PLCs, and manufacturing controls).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Boiler License and/or Electrician’s License is a plus.
