Job summary

Sonoco Products Company in Columbus, OH is seeking a Production and Maintenance Technician to support the plant’s production goals and equipment reliability.

The role involves following safety practices, supporting food safety guidelines, and leading on-floor maintenance of production equipment. You will perform troubleshooting, maintenance, basic disassembly/rebuilds, and document activities, with both day and night shift options and competitive hourly pay.

• Ability to follow directions and complete assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
• Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system.
• Performs duties as required to insure compliance with the plant's quality standards.
• Leads personnel in the on-floor efforts for the operation and maintenance of production equipment.
• Performs various manual or mechanical production functions by operating, adjusting, and repairing the production equipment to meet customer specifications.
• Evaluates and determines specific areas to be addressed during routine maintenance scheduled downtimes.
• Disassembles, overhauls, and rebuilds production equipment.
• Performs troubleshooting on production equipment as required.
• Performs preventative maintenance on production equipment as required.
• Performs on-the-job training and development of assigned personnel.
• Conducts inspection of in-process materials and in-process and finished product.
• Responsible for replenishing supplies, materials, parts, and tooling required for assigned area.
• Performs record keeping duties as required under the direction of management.
• Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer.
• Communicates pertinent information to next.
• Performs clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
• Reviews SOPs and control plans relevant to their area on a regular basis.
• Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
