Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance or machine repair.
• Vocational/technical training or an associate's degree is a plus but not required.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in a production setting.
• Proficient with hand and power tools, and reading blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns during production hours and diagnose failures to minimize downtime.

• Follow lockout/tagout safety protocols and keep work areas clean.

Description

The Production Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining critical production equipment—including CNC machines, bridge saws, inline polishing machines, and waterjets to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation. This role performs preventive maintenance, diagnoses mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, and completes timely repairs to keep equipment running at peak performance. The mechanic works closely with Operations & Production team to identify recurring problems, maintains accurate service records, and supports a safe, efficient, and productive manufacturing environment.

Daily Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns that occur during production hours, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures to restore machines to service with minimal downtime.
• Communicate with machine operators and production supervisors throughout the day to track equipment performance, prioritize repair needs, and coordinate maintenance around production schedules.
• Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, when servicing machinery, and ensure work areas are left clean and hazard-free.
• Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables, flagging low stock or reordering needs to avoid delays in future repairs.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, filter changes, belt and blade inspections, and calibration checks per equipment maintenance logs.

The Ideal Candidate would have the following skills and experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance or machine repair.
• Vocational/technical training or an associate's degree in industrial maintenance is a plus but not a substitute for hands-on repair experience.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including motors, pumps, valves, sensors, and control panels, in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments (multimeters, calipers, micrometers), along with the ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics.
• A dependable, team-first mindset with a track record of supporting operators and production schedules, including flexibility to work around active production.

Technical Aptitude

Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, with the ability to diagnose root causes of equipment failure quick&y1and apply effective, lasting repairs rather than temporary fixes.

Blueprint & Schematic Literacy

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals to guide troubleshooting, repairs, and part replacement accurately.

Physical Stamina

Capacity to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and lift heavy components for extended periods, often in varying temperatures and noise levels typical of a production floor environment.

Ability to clearly relay equipment status, safety concerns, and repair timelines to operators, supervisors, and other maintenance staff to keep production informed and coordinated.
