Production Machine Operator, Blue Buffalo - Joplin, MO

As part of our manufacturing team, you will support production packaging and processing operations, sanitation, and participate in startup, operation, changeover, and shutdown of equipment.

Shift hours:

• 12-hour shifts - 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, schedule
• Day shift: 6:45 am to 7 pm
• Night shift: 6:45 pm to 7 am

Currently hiring for NIGHT shift only. Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Plant operates 24/7.

Pay:

• $20.50 per hour
• Up to $23.48 per hour with internal pay advancement
• Shift differential: additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 7 pm and 7 am

Located in Joplin, our Pet manufacturing site produces Blue Buffalo dog food and treats. We foster a culture of engagement through committees and events, partnering with local humane societies for community service.

Our Products:

Blue Buffalo dog food, Sizzlers, Stix, Bits, Blue Bones, and Wilderness Wild Bones treats.

What your day will look like:

• Creating high-quality foods eaten nationwide daily
• Utilizing industry-leading technology
• Working with experienced operators eager to pass down knowledge
• Challenging yourself to do the job right and develop skills for future opportunities
• Troubleshooting machinery and collaborating with maintenance
• Monitoring batch formulas and procedures
• Handling ingredients and raw materials
• Calibrating and monitoring processing and packaging systems
• Participating in startup, changeover, and shutdown activities
• Performing food safety checks and CCP monitoring
• Operating forklifts safely
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives
• Training new employees

What you have to offer:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years experience in machine operation or mechanical skills
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain
• Experience in manufacturing preferred

Physical requirements:

• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting
• Work at heights using stairs, ladders, or lifts
• Wear protective gear as required
• Adhere to grooming standards for food safety
• Work in various environmental conditions including hot, cold, noisy, and dusty settings
• Operate around high-speed machinery
• Work with potential allergens and in a tobacco-free environment
