Job summary

Progress Rail is hiring a Production Machine Operator in Cleveland, OH to operate CNC multi-axis machinery and produce track components. You will read drawings, set speeds/feeds, change inserts, and verify parts meet tolerances on a first shift from 4:30 am to 1:00 pm (or 5:00 am to 1:00 pm).

Overtime available. Starting pay ranges $20–$22.50/hr with eligible $1.00 increases at 1 year and a quarterly production bonus of $200–$500.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 to 12 months CNC multi-axis machine operator experience preferred.
• Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to read and write legibly and complete production reports with accuracy.
• Must be able to read and use tape measure.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to inspect rail using measuring devices.
• Must be quality oriented and a team player.
• Must have complete understanding of safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Make necessary offset changes to be within allowable tolerances.
• Change inserts.
• Verify conformance of part to specifications using measuring instruments.
• Clean machined parts to ensure ready for assembly.

Progress Rail Machine Operators work with heavy machinery producing railroad track components. They maintain equipment to ensure it operates safely and effectively. Their duties include preparing machinery for daily use, inspecting machinery for safety issues, and producing quality full track panels, turnouts and crossings, as well as build other rail components to customer specifications.
