Job summary

OSW Equipment & Repair, LLC, a Federal Signal subsidiary, is the Pacific Northwest's largest truck body and trailer manufacturer. As a Welder II on our Production Line, you will safely weld, cut, and braze metal parts for dump trucks, trailers, and related equipment.

The role is on-site in Snohomish, WA, with four 10-hour shifts, pay 22–30 USD per hour, and benefits including medical, life, 401(k), and PTO after 90 days. OT may be available; join a growing team committed to quality and safety.

Qualifications

  • Formal apprenticeship or welding program completed; high school diploma preferred.
  • 1–4 years of wire-feed welding and steel/aluminum experience.
  • 1–3 years of welding layout with fabrication experience.
  • 1–3 years mechanical experience with hydraulics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work order details; gather tools/materials per job instructions.
  • Operate welding units and equipment using wire feed welding techniques.
  • Repair and fabricate items using blueprints and measuring devices.
  • Monitor welding process to avoid overheating and distortion.
  • Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts to be welded.
  • Maintain and clean equipment and work area.
  • Notify supervisor of faulty equipment/materials.
  • Conduct quality control evaluations of welds.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Description

OSW Equipment & Repair, LLC, a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation, is the largest truck body and trailer manufacturer in the Pacific Northwest. OSW’s main facility is located in the Maltby area in Snohomish County. OSW has been in business for over 20 years and has branches in Edmonton, Canada and Tempe, Arizona.

As a Welder II on our growing Production Line, you are contributing to the success of the company by safely and efficiently welding, cutting, and brazing metal pieces and products using flame‑cutting and hand welding equipment on dump trucks, trailers, and parts.

Responsibilities
  • Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
  • Operate manual and automated welding units and equipment utilizing wire feed welding techniques.
  • Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using blueprints, measuring devices, cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
  • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
  • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  • Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
  • Conducts quality control evaluations of completed welds.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
  • Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
Education and Experience
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship, welding program, successful completion of an in‑company, three‑year training program required. High School Graduate (preferred)
  • 1–4 years of experience with wire feed welding and steel & aluminum experience.
  • 1–3 years of fabrication with welding & layout experience.
  • 1–3 years of mechanical experience with hydraulics (preferred)
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by bending or twisting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, climbing, climbing on ladders, balancing, lifting, walking, carrying materials and standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be comfortable intermittently working at heights of 8 feet.
  • Requires working in cramped workspaces and getting into awkward positions.
  • Requires wearing specialized protective or safety equipment.
Benefits & Compensation
  • Wage Expectations: $22.00 – $30.00 per hour
  • Pay: This is a non‑exempt, hourly position and employees are paid on a bi‑weekly basis.
  • Typical Schedule: Four (4) ten‑hour days M‑F; overtime may be available on your 5th day of the week and/or Saturdays.
  • Location: On site – 20812 Broadway Ave, Snohomish, WA 98296.
  • Travel: Very minimal to none.

  • 401(k) with partial company match, 100% vested immediately.
