Job summary

Silgan Containers in Hammond, IN is seeking candidates for its Production Management Development Program. You will gain hands-on experience supervising production, coordinating daily plant operations, and working with a range of machinery in both union and nonunion plants.

The program runs approximately eight to ten months and emphasizes statistical process methods, quality tools, and leadership development to prepare you for operations management roles across manufacturing sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s in engineering/manufacturing preferred.
• At least two years in manufacturing operations with diverse machinery.
• At least one year supervisory experience in manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• During the program, supervise production and assist plant management in daily operations.
• Apply statistical process methods and basic quality tools to improve processes.
• Manage production throughput and ensure efficient use of equipment and materials while following safety rules.
• Enforce standard operating procedures and train plant staff.
• Oversee teams across locations and manage labor contracts and workplace relations.
