Production Leader / Manager – Job Description

Position Overview:
Pat’s Automotive is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Leader / Manager to oversee the daily workflow of our shop. This key leadership role ensures efficient operations, maximizes productivity, and upholds the highest quality standards in repair and service. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and capable of leading a team of technicians to meet and exceed performance goals while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Technician & Shop Management:
  • Drive shop productivity, ensuring efficiency in labor hours and workflow.
  • Monitor and audit technician performance, ensuring quality courtesy checks and thorough inspections.
  • Maintain strict quality control to minimize comebacks and ensure repairs meet Pat’s Automotive standards.
  • Enforce cleanliness and organization of the shop and ensure proper maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Dispatch and assign work to technicians based on skill level and workload balance.
  • Conduct pre-repair work order reviews with technicians to ensure clear communication and accuracy.
  • Oversee and verify correct parts orders and invoices in collaboration with the Service Team.
Daily Operations:
  • Set daily and weekly production goals and communicate expectations to the team.
  • Monitor technician efficiency and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure OEM and industry best practices are followed in all repairs and services.
  • Investigate and resolve any repair-related issues, providing recommendations for process improvements.
  • Lead efforts to ensure high customer satisfaction through efficient and high-quality service.
Leadership & Team Development:
  • Conduct weekly shop meetings focused on safety, training, and workflow improvements.
  • Hold one-on-one meetings with technicians to provide feedback and address concerns.
  • Recognize and reward strong performance while addressing underperformance through coaching and corrective action.
  • Collaborate with the Service Team to ensure smooth coordination between front office and technicians.
  • Lead by example with a professional attitude and a commitment to teamwork.
Training & Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify training opportunities for technicians and coordinate with leadership for professional development.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and shop profitability.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve shop operations.
