Job summary

Rolls-Royce is seeking a Production Leader in Cypress, CA to lead a manufacturing cell on the 3rd shift (10pm – 6:30am). You will coach a team to meet customer commitments, while driving safety, quality and efficiency improvements and maintaining compliance with all policies.

The role emphasizes lean leadership, budgeting, and developing high-performing teams in a manufacturing environment. Relocation not indicated; strong focus on safety and productivity is required.

  • Academic or professional requirements: degrees as listed, plus extensive operations experience.
  • Eligibility: US citizen or US permanent resident required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach a manufacturing cell to meet safety, quality, cost, delivery and people targets.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and standards, promote product safety culture.
  • Develop budgets for cell costs and drive productivity improvements.
  • Meet customer commitments through optimized load and capacity planning and issue resolution.
  • Deploy Production System minimum standards across the cell.
  • Mentor the manufacturing team with lean leadership, coaching and delegation.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Leader in our Cypress, CA location. As a Production Leader, you will lead, inspire and coach a team within a defined manufacturing cell. Accountable for ensuring that customer commitments are met in full, measured against agreed HSE, quality, cost, delivery, people and responsiveness standards.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement that Puts Safety First and delivers on Zero Harm and Zero Defects objectives including yield targets, safety & environmental targets and promoting wellbeing.
  • Accountable for ensuring that all work is carried out in compliance with all legislative and technical policies and standards to ensure conformance to the engineering specification, and for promoting a product safety culture in the organization.
  • Develop agreed cell cost center budgets (headcount, productivity, absenteeism, consumable cost) and drive improvements in productivity and consumable costs.
  • Deliver our products to customer commitments on time by effectively using load and capacity tools and managing bottlenecks and constraints to achieve flow through the cell.
  • Ensure that all relevant Production System minimum standards are fully deployed and sustained.
  • Inspire and develop the manufacturing team to consistently deliver high levels of performance through effective coaching, training, delegation, and the demonstration of lean leadership behaviors.

Who We’re Looking For

Basic Requirements
  • Associate degree and 7+ years of experience in operations, planning and control, supply chain, engineering, quality, OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in operations, planning and control, supply chain, engineering, quality, OR
  • Master's degree 3+ years of experience in operations, planning and control, supply chain, engineering, quality, OR
  • JD / PhD, OR
  • 9+ years of experience in operations, planning and control, supply chain, engineering, quality in lieu of a degree
  • In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
Preferred Requirements
  • Companywide outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working
  • Understanding/knowledge of multiple disciplines demonstrating breadth of experience
  • Appreciation of product integrity with proven track record delivering improved operational performance in both favorable and unfavorable conditions, utilizing cross-functional teams
  • Experience of deploying continuous improvement methodologies such as lean and six sigma, ideally with Green Belt accreditation
  • Management experience in an engineering industry is ideal, but not essential
