Job description

Production Lead Hand (2nd Shift), East Longmeadow, MA

Arclin USA is seeking talent for a Production Lead Hand job we have available in our East Longmeadow, MA location. Reporting into the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all aspects of the production operation to ensure compliance with Arclin’s goals and objectives. This position ensures that the plant is operating in compliance with all regulatory and company policies, procedures and regulations. This position provides back up for other Production Operator Lead(s) and/or the Operations Manager during absences and when required.

***2nd Shift (3pm - 11pm)***

Production Lead Hand Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage up to ten direct reporting operators depending on the size of the manufacturing operation:
    • Responsible for assigning and evaluating employee’s day to day work
    • Responsible for measuring, evaluating and correcting employee’s performance
    • Accountable for shift KPI’s such as downtime, scrap, product quality, first time right, run rate etc.
    • Develops employees’ work schedules and manages their attendance
  • Train to become subject matter expert on operating process equipment such as but not limited to, handling rolls, pumps, mixers, dryers, control panels etc. while troubleshooting production problems and issues
  • Makes necessary changes where possible to the process to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Mentor and train operators on various aspects of the process as a subject matter expert:
    • Potential travel for training purposes to other Arclin facilities
    • Creates a team environment conducive to innovation and productivity
  • Supervises production shutdown and start-up for maintenance purposes
  • Serve as the change leader for safety on the production floor, responsible for hazard identification, and where possible, the resolution of safety concerns or issues working with HSE department and employees
  • Responsible for accident/incident reporting and for accident/incident investigations as required; May act as Co-chair for the Health and Safety Committee
  • Will be responsible for reporting data working with Microsoft excel and word; working with computerized maintenance systems for any operations related mechanical issues

Production Lead Hand Job Qualifications:

  • High school education at an accredited College or University OR equivalent experience in a related manufacturing and supervisory role. An engineering or industrial technologist background would be considered an asset.
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; leading a team and managing people.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills and well developed interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations for the jurisdiction
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems especially when working with production data
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with computer and factory automation equipment
  • Proficient with computers, working with emails, Microsoft excel and word
  • Ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment; this may include, but is not limited to potentially lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods of time bending, crouching, stooping, rotating, climbing stairs, or any combination of the aforementioned, etc.
