A leading company in the food industry is seeking a Production Lead for the 2nd shift at their Tecumseh Plant. Responsibilities include overseeing daily production operations, ensuring quality and efficiency, and mentoring staff. Job Details:
Pay: $21.10/hr
Hours: 4:30PM - 1:00AM (start and end times may vary)
SUMMARY: All Line Leaders will report in a timely manner to the Production Manager on all daily functions of their department. They will perform daily inspections and audits of their department to ensure associates and equipment are performing in accordance to the departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) while maintaining company standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
LEADER I ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform set-up and verify department is prepared for the day’s production; inclusive of staffing
Lead stretching at the beginning of the day
Communicate with other Leaders and Managers during lot changes and throughout the day to maintain quality and line flow
Complete departmental audits on equipment, product and work performance throughout the day as required; capture and record all required data
Monitor all areas within the department that effect efficiency
Understand the operation of all equipment within the department and how adjustments affect product quality
Communicate with Production manager on downtime and apparent cause
Communicate with Maintenance on equipment issues effecting the department
Perform end of the day shut down and verify shut down of all department areas
Perform associate training and coaching
Assist in completing and presenting employee reviews to direct reports
Contribute and support the progressive discipline process as needed for direct reports
Assist HR as needed; helping to facilitate information to and from directs reports in order to provide excellent customer services to employees
Other duties as assigned
LEADER II ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
in addition to the Leader I duties ad/change out
Participate in and support the progressive discipline process as needed for direct reports
Facilitate Daily employee information required for payroll processing
LEADER III ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
in addition to the Leader I & II duties ad/change out
Complete and present employee reviews
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work and operate equipment safely and effectively
Ability to work efficiently at a fast pace; meeting minimum production speed requirements expected of direct reports
Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions
Able to discern and pay attention to quality of product
Willingness to function as part of a team and work toward team goals
Preparedness to assist in other areas of production and work overtime as required
Excellent observation skills and attention to detail, eager to learn new ideas
Highly motivated self-starter
Must be willing to adhere to and support all company policies, programs, guidelines and standards of conduct.
LEADER I Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum of 1 year experience in meat processing, production, or Leader capacity
Satisfactory completion of Operations Leadership Training Program
Computer literacy preferred
experience in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel Database, and Outlook beneficial
LEADER II Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum 2 years of experience in a meat processing facility preferred
of which at least 1 year service in a leader capacity preferred
Computer experience; basic skill level in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel Database, and Outlook required
Satisfactory completion of Operations Leadership Training Program
Enrollment in Leader Fundamentals Managerial Training Curriculum
LEADER III Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum 2 years of experience in a meat processing facility preferred
of which at least 1.5 year service in a leader capacity preferred
Computer experience; basic skill level in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel Database, and Outlook required
Satisfactory completion of OPR012 Production Training Program
Satisfactory completion of Leader Fundamentals Managerial Training Curriculum
Attendance in Leadership Development
Physical Requirements / Environment:
Rarely (0-1 hrs.): kneel, crouch or crawl
Occasionally (1-3 hrs.): climb or work at unprotected heights (stairs or step up to production areas), lift/carry (up to 45 lbs.), push/pull (up to 100 lbs.), sit, squat, reach above shoulder height or slightly above
Frequently (3-6 hrs.): lift/carry (up to 10 lbs.), push/pull (up to 10 lbs.), simple/firm grasping, fine manipulation/knife work, keyboarding and writing, balance
Continuously (6-8 hrs.): stand/walk, bend/stoop, twist/turn, work around moving machinery, exposed to marked changes in temperature, around and amongst poultry dust, odor and blood, as well as chemical fumes, work in wet/humid environment or cold environment less than 40◦F, talk and hear, use 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses
