Pay and Schedule

Pay: 19/hr + 1.25/hr Shift Differential

Shift: 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM

Primary work days are Thursday-Sunday. Schedule varies depending on workload each week.

Job Summary

Job Summary

Responsible for machine operation and crew in a light industrial setting. Must manage machine team to ensure proper and safe operation of assigned equipment. Responsible for quality, output, and meeting production goals. Additionally, fulfills the job duties of a Production Technician 1 and 2 as required.

Key Duties/Responsibilities
  • Production: Monitors performance of machine and personnel. Ensures goals are met and issues are communicated to Supervisor and/or Production Technician 3 Lead. Completes all work assignments during production. Checks in material, pocket set-ups, moves material offline that is no longer needed, and other assignments as necessary. Applies advanced troubleshooting skills and performs basic maintenance on assigned machines to improve quality and performance. Assists crew members when needed. (40%)
  • Crew Leadership/Training: Organizes crew activities and delegates assignments. Performs assigned duties. Trains and develops all crew members. (30%)
  • Quality and Waste: Monitors product quality for correctness and reports errors. Monitors print and bundle quality. Makes adjustments as necessary to correct quality issues. Monitors product waste and takes steps to reduce or eliminate spoilage and doubles. (15%)
  • Communication/Record Keeping: Maintains accurate record keeping (safety audits, packages per hour, labor hours per thousand, and other logs or forms). Communicates personnel issues to the Supervisor or Production Technician 3 Lead. Informs other Operators/Supervisors of pertinent information and communicates to other shifts as necessary. (15%)
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
  • Experience: 3-5 years related experience; basic computer experience
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to multi-task; ability to line lead or crew lead for one machine; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; attention to detail; effective communicator; ability to troubleshoot machine problems; mathematical skills and production reports; basic computer skills; knowledge to operate a pallet jack; strong knowledge of machine and manufacturing operations; ability to speak and communicate effectively in English (preferred)
  • Equipment/Software Utilized: Pallet jack; machine-specific software
  • Communication and Contacts: Lead, coach and maintain open communication with other production team members; participate in Team Business Meetings
  • Decision Making: Work prioritization to meet production commitments and goals; machine staffing assignments; machine processing speed
  • Other: Ability to work overtime beyond regular schedule as required
Physical Demands / Working Conditions

The physical demands and working conditions described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may carry up to 15 lbs., push/pull up to 40 lbs., stand, walk, reach, grip, twist, and kneel. May frequently lift up to 15 lbs. The environment may include moving mechanical parts, airborne dust, paper particles, and industrial lift trucks. Noise levels may require hearing protection. Additional Information

The rate of pay for this role at the noted RRD location is $19.00/hour + $1.25/hr. shift premium. Roles may include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
