Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Department Supervisor, the Shift Lead will coordinate the activities of the department and directs the workforce to achieve departmental work schedules/objectives. The Lead has the authority to check and verify reports and documentation. Exercises some latitude to change procedures in order to meet special cases. The Shift Lead interacts with other operational areas and management as needed. Informs the department Supervisor about important departmental issues and activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Monitors, coordinates, and assigns activities within area of responsibility and notifies the Supervisor of potential issues.
  • Maintains steady daily flow of operational tasks within department and reviews reports to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provides on-the-job training of department process, procedures, and guidelines to include training on equipment and safety.
  • Oversees employee activities and performs, on an as needed basis, general warehouse duties.
  • Upholds inventory accuracy by supporting audits, cycle counts, process improvements, and any other form of process improvement.
  • Adheres to and promotes all company safety rules and requirements
  • Communicates employee concerns and recommendations to management.
  • Leads employees by providing proper instruction, materials, and tools.
  • Ensures department objectives are being met by team members.

  • Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Educations and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Certificates, License, Registrations or Professional Designations

  • Forklift certification or be willing to get trained and certified.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Previous warehouse experience with specialized functions.
  • Knowledge of ERP system. Syteline preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct work for team members.
  • Ability to learn and apply department processes under time constraints.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • 2 – 3 years of experience working in a warehouse manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional follow through and dependability a must.

Computer Skills

  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply)

Other Skills

  • Capable of lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Frequent lifting required.
  • Standing and walking up to 8 hours.
  • Frequent use of ladders, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holiday hours.
  • Ability to legally work without sponsorship for employment visa status.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (only provide if needed)

Educations and/or Experience

  • AA degree desired

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • 1-2 years of experience in a leadership capacity preferred.

Language Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer or telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Must be capable of lifting up to 35 pounds. Have ability to complete frequent lifting, standing and walking up to 8 hours. May frequently use ladders, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a warehouse environment, and have frequent standing and walking. The ambient conditions are moderate, and the noise level in the work environment is moderate. The employee will be working near or around machinery.
