Job summary

Tenneco is seeking a production operator/welder to join our direct manufacturing team in Smithville, Tennessee. The role involves performing standard operator tasks, adhering to safety policies, and supporting line problems and changeovers.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of manufacturing experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work at takt time within a team environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks / standard work of production operator or welders in the work area.
  • Understand safety policies, practices and rules for the assigned area including HazCom labels, MSDS and LOTO.
  • Promote safety within the cell and respond to injuries or illnesses.
  • Communicate staffing needs to the Production Supervisor.
  • Monitor job rotation schedules and escalate issues.
  • Provide first response to line problems and document issues for resolution.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and coordinate training of associates.
  • Facilitate build sequence following standardized work.
  • Maintain 5S in the workplace and escalate when necessary.
  • Assist with changeovers, troubleshooting and first piece inspection processes.
  • Provide daily updates to the Supervisor.

Job description

Operations leads will be part of the direct manufacturing team and will spend approximately 95% of their time performing the same duties as other operators or welders in their work area. Approximately 5% of their time will be spent performing other tasks such as changeovers, troubleshooting issues with the line, first piece acceptance and training in the cell.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs tasks / standard work of production operator or welders in the work area
  • Understanding of safety policies, practices and rules that apply to assigned area, including Hazcom labels, MSDS information, LOTO procedures.
  • Promotion of Safety within in the cell and primary contact to ensure proper reaction to and reporting of injury and/or illness.
  • Communicate staffing needs to Production Supervisor
  • Monitoring of job rotation schedule and elevate where issues arise
  • Provide first response to line problems. Document problems, resolve when possible and follow-up with appropriate resource or group to ensure problem is corrected.
  • Demonstration and encouragement of teamwork among associates.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate training of associates.
  • Facilitation of team to ensure build sequence follows documented standardized work.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of 5S in the workplace and elevate where necessary
  • Assist with changeovers, troubleshooting and first piece inspection processes.
  • Provides daily update on operations to Supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:

Minimum of High School diploma or equivalency is necessary.

EXPERIENCE:

1 year manufacturing experience
