Job description

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Production Supervisor.

Purpose

Supports production associates in delivering plant objectives in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale; ensures 5S standards are maintained and abnormal situations are handled properly; ensures documentation is completed and Rules of Manufacturing and Standard Work are followed.

Authority: Lead B-Operators and Production Associates in the work group; report issues to Supervisor and make suggestions for improvements.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensures 5S standards are maintained and suggests improvements.
  • Ensures each abnormal situation is properly controlled/handled.
  • Completes hourly tracking and OEE.
  • Ensures all documentation is completed daily (scrap, PM, Poke Yoke, etc.).
  • Ensures all Rules of Manufacturing are followed.
  • Identifies and assists in improving safety concerns.
  • Completes required offline inspection for the line.
  • Leads teardown associate.
  • Assists Supervisor with other duties as needed.
Measurements/Competencies
  • Accomplishment of set goals, including documentation, organization, and timeliness.
  • Safety incidents and occurrences by Department.
  • Quality Metrics (Scrap, DPPM, Teardown).
  • 5S.
  • Ability to identify/suggest improvement activities.
Supervisor Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate. May occasionally work in hot or cold temperatures and on slippery or uneven surfaces.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred one year of employment at Douglas prior to appointment.
  • Good attendance and work.
  • Experience in problem solving and reporting (e.g., 8‑D, PR/R, QR, etc.).
  • Computer literate.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Team player.
  • Self‑motivated.
  • Willing to travel.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 32 pounds at a time.
  • Manual dexterity to assemble products or machines as directed.
  • Excellent hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.
  • Must wear gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, and ear protection, per the Elemental Operations Instructions Safety Points.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. The position regularly requires extended hours and possible weekend work.

Travel

Travel may be required.
