Job summary

Universal Pure is seeking a Team Leader to guide HPP associates across all shifts in a cold, wet manufacturing environment. You will assign tasks, monitor quality, enforce GMP and safety standards, and coordinate with QA and USDA partners to meet customer deadlines.

Required are a high school diploma and proven teamwork, communication, and attendance. Experience with machine operation and in a quick-paced setting is preferred; willingness to adapt to changing duties is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assign associates to rotations, machines, and daily tasks.
  • Communicate and execute work assignments to meet expectations.
  • Supervise shift to ensure GMP and safety compliance.
  • Assist with planning work schedules and product runs.
  • Train associates and ensure QA, safety, and company procedures are followed.
  • Complete department paperwork accurately.
  • Communicate with leadership, QA, and USDA as needed.
  • Maintain attendance and track progress.
  • Motivate team to meet production goals.
  • Inspect in-process and finished goods for defects.

Position Purpose:

Team leaders oversee the manufacturing activities and undertake a combination of physical and mental work that ranges from filling out paperwork and filing reports to managing production assembly lines and helping their team complete orders. Team leaders are strong communicators who can motivate a team to achieve certain targets and have great time management and problem-solving skills.

All shifts available: Monday-Friday

  • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities
  • Assign all associates to work rotations, machines, and daily tasks.
  • Responsible for communicating and executing work assignments to meet set expectations by the department and customer requirements.
  • Supervise employees during shift to ensure they are following GMP and Safety Regulations.
  • Assist the Supervisor with planning work schedules and product runs.
  • Training and holding associates accountable for departments, QA, Safety and Company processes and procedures
  • Complete the required paperwork for the department and ensure all paperwork submitted by associates is complete and accurate.
  • Required to communicate with leadership, QA department and USDA.
  • Handle any minor tasks related to your role.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality for an hourly role.
  • Monitor progress and track it.
  • Motivate team members to meet production goals.
  • Examine completed work (in-process and finished goods) to detect defects and verify conformance specifications.
  • Collaborate with machine operators, supervisors, and management to ensure progress and time frame for orders.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Report any issues to the supervisor immediately.
  • Communicate changeovers with the Quality department and Production team to make sure a third-party verification has taken place.
  • Label changeovers.

  • Previous experience working in a cold storage environment.

Working Conditions
  • This is largely a static role with standing; however, the ability to perform repetitive bending and standing up is also required. This would require the ability to lift 10-35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally. Must also be able to push/pull up to 250 lbs. on rollers occasionally.
  • This role operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (around 35 degrees F) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production type facility. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for 8-12 hours a day.

Universal Pure facilities may process, pack, and store products containing allergenic food ingredients as referenced by the FDA. Team members who may come in direct contact must be able to work with these ingredients.
