Job summary

Nucor Corporation is seeking personnel for River Metals Recycling LLC in Owensboro, KY. The role focuses on safe loading, container handling, and assisting customers with unloading materials in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include operating forklifts, following OSHA procedures, and maintaining safety and cleanliness across the site. Opportunities exist for cross-training and growth within a leading steel producer.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate essential equipment including forklift and bobcat.

• Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
• Oversee loading of trailers/containers by content, weight and quality.
• Interact with employees on scales to verify purchases.
• Perform general labor duties including sweeping and cleanup.
• Operate small equipment such as a forklift.
• Perform daily inspections and report defects or needed repairs.
• Assist and direct customers to proper unloading locations.
• Maintain a clean work environment per policies and procedures.
• Cross-train in other positions and assist others as needed.
• Other duties assigned by Management.

Basic Job Functions

• Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
• Oversee loading of trailers/containers as to content, weight and quality.
• Interact with employees on scales to verify/restrict duplication of purchases.
• General labor duties that may include but are not limited to sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment and physical handling of materials, supplies, etc.
• Operate small equipment such as a forklift.
• Perform daily inspections on equipment and report any defects or needed repairs to supervisor and clean equipment as needed.
• Assist and direct customers to proper location to unload materials.
• Be able to understand environmental policies and be able to maintain a clean work environment as it pertains to our policies and procedures.
• Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
• Any other duties assigned by Management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to interact with a diverse customer base.
• Ability to operate essential equipment (forklift, bobcat, etc.).
• Ability to greet visitors, direct truck, and peddler traffic to proper locations for processing.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Flexible working overtime in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work standing or walking for up to 10 hours per day.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-year previous general labor and/or customer service experience preferred.
