Production Lab Technician (3rd Shift) Farmers Branch, TX #998

Production Lab Technician experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train.

Job Description:

The Lab Technician will be responsible for cutting, edging, and creating prescription lenses to ensure customers receive their new prescription glasses in a timely manner. Once the glasses are complete, the Lab Technician is responsible for taking the glasses to the retail floor so they can be dispensed to the patient. Other duties are listed below.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify and work with basic optical laboratory equipment, tools, supplies, and materials.
• Consistently adhere to hourly deadlines for finishing jobs.
• Correctly read and interpret prescription specifications and input into computer properly to ensure lenses are cut correctly.
• Maintain the lab area and equipment in a safe and organized manner.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly lab equipment maintenance as scheduled and according to lab/manual specifications.
• Understand and perform basic arithmetic involving positive and negative integers.
• Perform multiple concurrent tasks at different equipment stations to maintain acceptable workflow.
• Read, comprehend, and follow technical manuals and protocols.
• Complete all assigned reporting forms in a timely manner.
• Read and interpret prescription specifications accurately.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working in a lab or technical setting.
• Experience in the optical industry is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day.
• Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to approximately 45 lbs and assist in moving heavy equipment when needed.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment.
• Clear and concise communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to multi-task effectively.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to facilitate solutions.
• Time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently.

Work is primarily performed in an optical laboratory setting that is often fast-paced and deadline-oriented. May work alone or with a partner. Environment may include exposure to dust, fumes, lens particulates, chemicals, metal alloys, noise, fluorescent lighting, cleaning agents, and electrical energy. Tasks involve working with small manual tools, lenses, and automated laboratory equipment.
