Oversee the day-to-day operations of our central production kitchen.
Lead and train a dedicated nutrition services team.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district food service regulations.
Coordinate high-quality procurement of food in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Nutrition Services.
Develop and test new recipes and standards for our menus and scratch-cooked meals.
Promote our meal program to students, parents, and the community.
Manage software-based systems for orders, inventory, recipes, and production records.
Support special events such as catering, chef demos, and tastings.
Champion food safety through HACCP and Serve Safe practices.
Foster a positive team culture through coaching, training, and shared goals.
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Culinary Arts, Nutrition, or Food Service or Associates Degree in Culinary Arts plus 2 years' experience as Sous Chef
Serve Safe Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
First Aid/CPR Certification preferred
Minimum 3 years of institutional food service experience
1+ year of large-scale food production required (e.g., 100-gallon kettles, cook/chill systems)
Supervisory experience required
Catering experience a plus
Advanced culinary skills in high-volume production
Strong knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and child nutrition program regulations
Proficiency with inventory systems and kitchen management software
Ability to lead, motivate, and train a diverse team
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
