Job summary

G&W Electric is seeking a Production Inspector to perform final inspections, train staff, and document quality findings in a dynamic manufacturing setting. The role maintains process controls, ensures conformance to ISO standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

You'll review drawings, operate inspection tools, and generate NCRs/CII as needed. The position offers a 5:00am–1:30pm shift, safety-focused environment, and opportunities to contribute to a world-class manufacturing

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • 1–3 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, bills of materials, wiring/ladder diagrams desirable.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word and Excel); ERP experience desirable.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers and a micrometer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform final inspection tasks on all switches and orders before shipment.
  • Train production personnel in effective process control methods.
  • Prepare reports for all findings.
  • Shut down non-conforming processes after notifying Supervisor.
  • Prepare and enter Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Write Customer Improvement Initiatives (CII) for repetitive problems.
  • Report ISO violations to the Cell Leader/Manager.
  • Contribute to control-chart creation/implementation for critical processes.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by following procedures and rules.
  • Conserve resources by proper use of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in training others in inspection tasks as needed.
  • Inspect all work prior to passing to next operation.
  • Document actions via production and quality forms.

Production Inspector

In this job you will inspect component parts and completed product for conformance to production controls and ISO standards.

As a Production Inspector you will:
  • Perform final inspection tasks on all switches and part orders being shipped
  • Train production personnel in effective methods to control processes
  • Prepare reports for all findings
  • Position has the authority to “shut down” non-conforming processes after notifying Supervisor
  • Prepare and enter NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports)
  • Write Customer Improvement Initiative (CII) for repetitive problems
  • Report violations of ISO standard to the Cell Leader / Manager
  • Responsible (along with team members from product engineering, manufacturing engineering and production) for the creation/implementation of process control charts for all critical processes Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of inspection tasks as needed
  • Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms
We are looking for someone who:
  • Has a High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development
  • Ideally has 1 – 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Has an ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, bills of materials, wiring and ladder diagrams desirable
  • Must have basic computer skills in MS Word and Excel Experience using an ERP system desirable
  • Has an ability to utilize measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers, “Fluke” multimeter
The physical demands of the job are:
  • Work is classified as Medium – Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Dept of Labor’s Dictionary of Occupational Titles
  • Frequencies – Occasional (1-33%); Frequent (34-66%); Continuous (67-100%)
  • Lifting Demands:
    • Lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis floor to waist with assistance
    • Lift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis floor to waist
    • Carry up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis up to 25 feet
    • Push/Pull up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis
    • Push/Pull more than 40 pounds on an occasional basis with assistance
  • Postural Demands:
    • Standing – continuous
    • Walking – continuous
    • Bending/stooping – frequent
    • Squatting/kneeling – frequent
    • Lifting – frequent
  • Variable hand/power tool use – frequent
  • Two-person tasks using assistive devices for lifting, pulling and pushing including engine stands hand trucks, pallet jacks, and hoists

Pay Range is typically between $22.50- $23.75 per hour
