Job Description

The Production Inspectorposition is a critical link in our quality control processes, and it is responsible for assuring our products meet customer requirements. This role will be responsible for accurately recording measurements of in process production materials, determining nonconforming material in order to protect the customer, properly identifying materials for return to stock.



The Production Inspectorwill report to the Lead Quality Engineer and work daily out of the Van Wert, OH facility. This position is for 3rd Shift. The hours are 10:45 pm-6:30 am.Relocation and work authorization support cannot be provided for this role.


Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.



  • Must be able to learn, apply, and retain new techniques, concepts and procedures required for continuously improving products, processes, services, deliveries and overall quality.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, control plans, routers, job instructions and measurement tools.

  • Ability to set up and operate a diverse variety of test equipment, gauges and measurement devices.

  • Maintain flexibility to be able to move from work area to work area in order to meet the delivery expectations of the customers and the productivity goals for the plant. Able to work efficiently to establish standards without constant supervision.

  • Support operations with proper containment and escalation of internal product non-conformities, driving prompt communication to internal departments, escalating or engaging other functions as required.

  • Determines product conformity to specified standards and requirements through identification with use of product drawings/blueprints and use of gauges

  • Participate in quality system audits (i.e. LPA, internal, customer, third party), quality training and/or other teams needed to support an effective quality management system.

  • Maintains a close working relationship with cross functional support functions, i.e. Operations, Application Engineering, Schedulers, Accounting, Buyers, Customer Service Representative, Sales Engineers, Product/Process Engineers, Engineering test laboratory.

  • Create and maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment and practices safety in all activities.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required

  • Proficiency with computers, including strong spreadsheet and computation skills

  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office software (i.e. Power Point, Excel, Word, Access)

  • Experience with measuring tools, such as gauges

  • Ability to accurately record, analyze, and compare test results customer specifications

  • Must be able to learn, apply, and retain new techniques, concepts and procedures required for continuously improving products, processes, services, deliveries, and overall quality

  • To retain qualifications for this position, testing of basic quality tools will be ongoing

  • Promotes cooperation and collaborative work environment under the direction of the leadership team

  • Ability to manage lifting and moving up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

  • Be willing to work standing/walking on feet throughout the workday

  • Be willing and able to use PPE on hands, head, feet, face, or body, when required

  • Experience working in the manufacturing environment (assembly, machining, warehouse, etc.)
