Job summary

Nucor Corporation in St. Louis, MO is seeking a General Laborer for Advantage Metals Recycling LLC. You will perform general labor in a fast-paced scrap-metal environment, follow safety policies, and assist with sorting and material handling.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of general labor experience in heavy manufacturing, be reliable, able to stand for long shifts, and willing to overtime. Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
• Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
• General labor duties that may include sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment throughout the yard.
• Support line operation in repairs and other activities
• Capture high value material off moving conveyors
• Keep grounds clear of debris while maintaining safety standards.
• Perform daily inspections on sorting equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
• Willingness to cross-train on small mobile equipment, learn other positions, and assist teammates as needed.
• Other duties assigned by your supervisor.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment
• Minimum of 1-year previous general labor in heavy manufacturing environments,preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Flexible working overtime, off-hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
