Job summary

Powermatic Associates in Livermore, CA, is seeking a Production Harness Builder to assemble electric cables and harnesses from schematics. You will read blueprints, use soldering irons and crimping tools, and assemble components to exact specifications.

This role requires 1–2 years of electronic assembly experience, strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to work from instructions in a production environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical Certification acceptable.
  • 1-2 years of relevant working knowledge of electronic assembly
  • Skilled in the use of all types of hand and power tools
  • Able to work from blueprints, sketches, and/or verbal instructions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot when necessary
  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail is required

Responsibilities

  • Use tools to position and install ends of wires to components, plugs, or terminal strip, using soldering iron or crimping device based on documented specifications.
  • Reads and interprets instructions, such as work orders, diagrams, schematics and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly.
  • Wraps, cuts, ties, clips and hooks wire together at designated points to form harness, manually or using tie-wrap gun.
  • Assists in creating first article work instructions.
  • Apply sealing liquid to secure knots in ties, using brush.
  • Insert cable in plastic tubing or inject plastic sealant around terminals to protect cable from dust and moisture.
  • Test wiring continuity, using continuity tester.
  • Attach appropriate labels and tags to products and packages.
  • Notify Supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Other duties as assigned, needed or required

Job Purpose

Working conditions

Powermatic Associates is a rapidly growing organization and as such our team must be very agile and be comfortable working in an evolving environment. The working condition for this position is primarily sedentary in a production environment; experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet deadlines; requires visual concentration on detail, dexterity and precision. Typical work hours are M-F 8am-5pm.

Physical requirements
  • Most work is performed in an indoor production environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk 50% of the time,
  • stand 20% of the time and sit 30% of the time.
  • The employee will occasionally lift and or carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Employee may use power tools and assembly equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
