Job summary

  • Input information for bar coded tags and print tags as needed.
  • Weigh drawn wire and tag it appropriately.
  • Stack wire in the warehouse and keep weight tag printer stocked.
  • Inspect forklift and complete the inspection sheet.
  • Maintain a clean work area and practice safety.

Shift/Hours:Friday through Sunday OR Saturday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Work 36 hours and receive 40 hours of pay.

This weekend shift will be available for 9 to 12 months. After that period, employees will transition to a Monday through Friday shift.

We are seeking a Production Floater to join our team at our Merit Steel location in Kouts, Indiana. The Production Floater is a dynamic and adaptable team member responsible for performing a variety of duties across multiple departments as needed. This position is designed to provide support wherever required, ensuring the smooth operation of daily business activities and covering absences, high workloads, or special projects. The ideal candidate is flexible, quick to learn new tasks, and able to work effectively in diverse environments.

So, what will you be doing as a Production Floater?
  • Perform various quality tests on in process and finished wire and input results into computer system.
  • Input information for bar coded tags and print tags as needed
  • Weigh drawn wire from wire drawing line and tag with appropriate tag.
  • Stack wire in the warehouse.
  • Keep weight tag printer filled with labels.
  • Inspect fork truck and fill out inspection sheet.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Practice good safety techniques
  • Perform other duties as assigned
