Job description

Production Engineering Technician - 2nd Shift

This position reports to Production Engineering Manager.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will support production process definition to optimize cost, quality, and on-time delivery of products. Daily activities include sequence definition, cycle time calculation, and analysis of new production processes/products. You will also share cycle time data with internal teams.

The work model for this role is: #LI-onsite.

This position contributes to the Electrification Distribution Solutions division in Pinetops, NC. Your main responsibilities include:

  1. Maintaining automation line operation with minimal downtime and designing improvements to prevent issues (develop spare parts plan, routine controls and checks on automation stations and robots, operator training on autonomous maintenance).
  2. Collaborating with team members to detect, design, and implement Kaizen improvement ideas for the factory.
  3. Driving improvements in workstation design & build-up, cycle time, ergonomics, fixturing, tooling, layout, material/product flow, and automation to enhance efficiency, productivity, HSE, and quality.
  4. Designing and executing improvements, build-up, and setup in the factory.
  5. Defining action plans and training maintenance and production staff to ensure smooth implementation of new processes.
  6. Preparing technical documentation and ensuring optimal efficiency in methods, performance, and materials/components.
Qualifications for the role
  • Associate Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in designing and implementing electromechanical projects (e.g., fixturing, wiring, flow systems).
  • Mechanical or Electromechanical technician certification.
  • Knowledge of Robotics, control systems, and automation is a plus.
  • Ability to read and develop mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software and 3D printing (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse project teams.
  • Must have work authorization to work in the US for ABB.
