Job summary

Nissan North America in Smyrna, TN, is seeking a Production Engineering Co-op to support engineers in developing and optimizing assembly sequences, operator work instructions, and production-trial documentation.

You will assist with QA documentation for torque specs and electrical connections, validate process and quality charts, analyze data, and contribute to VR CAD studies and 3D-printed components using AutoCAD and Inventor, onsite at the Smyrna Plant.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Sophomore level or higher.
  • GPA 3.0 or above; transcript required during the application process for verification.
  • Ability to perform work onsite at the Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant.

Responsibilities

  • Support production engineers in developing and optimizing assembly sequences and operator work instructions during production trials.
  • Assist in creating, validating, and maintaining QA documentation related to torque specs and electrical connections.
  • Support validation and upkeep of Process Control Charts and Product Quality Assurance Charts.
  • Collect, analyze, and track critical measurement data to identify trends and support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with New Model, Current Model, and Equipment Engineers to implement production aids and equipment, including AutoCAD and Inventor drawings.
  • Align Bills of Material with operator work instructions to ensure production accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support part and process change management during trials, model launches, and ongoing manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in VR CAD studies to evaluate manufacturing processes, layouts, and ergonomics.
  • Assist with 3D modeling, prototyping, and creation of 3D-printed components.
