Job summary

Syensqo is seeking a Process Engineering Co‑Op in West Deptford, NJ to support a polymer manufacturing facility. You will gather data and analyze processes, assist staff with troubleshooting, and have opportunities to test new products and implement improvements.

Work with a dynamic team focused on fluorochemicals; you will participate in testing, project development, and process performance evaluation, enabling hands-on learning and growth.

Qualifications

  • Majors: Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Willingness to work independently and in a team.
  • Onsite in West Deptford, NJ preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generating or updating standard operating procedures for improvements / best practices.
  • Streamlining and digitalizing production records to increase efficiency and data quality.
  • Investigating trends in quality and production parameters; analyze production data.
  • Developing Statistical Process Control tools to improve quality control.
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting production processes.
  • Basic data generation to support scale-up from lab to plant.
  • Primary processes: PVDF and fluoroelastomers at West Deptford plant.
  • Basic understanding of material balances, chemistry, and thermodynamics.

We are looking for:

A Process Engineering Co‑Op for our West Deptford, NJ location. As part of the Syensqo group of companies, Syensqo Specialty Polymers creates innovative products using fluorine‑based chemical technology (fluorochemistry) that benefits diverse customers worldwide. Fluorochemicals, while offering a balance of useful properties, are particularly noted for their exceptional resistance to other chemical agents and environments that attack and degrade lesser materials. Applications that exploit the characteristics of fluorochemicals include battery components, durable coatings for architectural components, linings for chemical process vessels and piping, jacketing for electrical wiring, and high‑performance lubricants.

We count on you for:

As a member of the production department at the West Deptford plant, the successful candidate will be involved in supporting production at a polymer manufacturing facility. This work will include data gathering and analysis as well as assisting the plant staff in troubleshooting process problems. The co‑op will have a variety of opportunities to actively participate in team activities and work independently. For example, team activities may include testing new products or process improvements, developing projects, or evaluating process performance. Activities may include:

  • Generating or updating standard operating procedures for improvements / best practices
  • Streamlining and digitalizing production records, round sheets, etc. to increase efficiency and improve data collection and analysis
  • Investigating trends in quality and production parameters. Analysis of production process data.
  • Developing Statistical Process Control tools to improve quality control of processes
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting production processes
  • Basic data generation to support the transition of new products and processes from the lab scale to the industrial scale
  • The primary processes supported are poly(vinylidene fluoride) and fluoroelastomers produced at the West Deptford plant.
  • Basic understanding of material balances, chemistry, and thermodynamics is expected.
