Production Engineer – Syensqo

Overview

We are seeking a proactive Production Engineer to optimize processes, drive quality and productivity improvements, and provide technical support to ensure safe and efficient operations at our Kalamazoo, MI site.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all procedures and instructions are clearly documented and distributed.
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) and routings.
  • Support and drive process improvement initiatives.
  • Take a lead role in maintaining statistical control of process parameters.
  • Monitor daily performance, identify issues, and eliminate special cause variations.
  • Issue Nonconforming Material (NCN) reports for all production orders.
  • Lead investigations and define corrective actions for closed NCNs.
  • Investigate and propose corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Translate engineering instructions for trials and non-standard products into actionable plans.
  • Provide day-to-day technical troubleshooting for the department.
  • Develop systems to measure and report performance against productivity and quality goals.
  • Perform hazard analyses and develop procedures for non-routine tasks.
  • Provide technical support for capital improvement projects and assist in developing the capital budget.
  • Serve as back-up to the Production Superintendent, acting as the management contact for ERT (Emergency Response Team) issues within the department.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve quality and efficiency issues.
  • Solid understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) to maintain process targets.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently or lead project teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access for analyzing large volumes of process data.
  • Six Sigma experience in process improvement and optimization preferred.
  • Understanding of process flow and the interaction of chemical, mechanical, and electrical systems to achieve quality, efficiency, and cost targets.

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $84,960 to $110,000 per year. Total compensation also includes bonus and other incentives.
