Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Production Engineering Co-op to join the Production Engineering team in Danvers, MA. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in process improvement, GMP, and manufacturing support within a global medical device environment.

You will work with cross-functional teams, apply Lean and Six Sigma tools, and help develop documentation, validations, and production transfer activities.

Responsibilities

• Support global process improvement and production-floor activities.
• Participate in cross-functional teams spanning global operations.

• Assist with production of new products, changes, and enhancements.
• Ensure GMP, GDP, FDA QSR and ISO compliance in daily work.
• Develop and maintain process documentation (routers, BOMs, FMEAs).
• Contribute to validation plans, protocols, and reports.

Role Requirements

• Support global process improvement, production-floor support, and production-transfer activities through recurring meeting coordination and attendance.
• Work in cross-functional teams that span global operations.
• Use Lean and Six Sigma tools to analyze process trends, communicate issues using a data-driven approach, and identify opportunities to improve process performance and yield.
• Support commercial production of new products, product changes, and enhancements in coordination with Operations, Product Development, and Quality Assurance.
• Support and enforce company goals, policies, and procedures, including Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Documentation Practices, FDA Quality System Regulation requirements, and applicable ISO standards.
• Assist with developing and maintaining process documentation, including assembly and test procedures, routers, travelers, bills of materials, process flows, and process FMEAs.
• Help execute process validations, including preparation of validation plans, protocols, and reports.
• Qualify and optimize processes and tooling through IQ/OQ/PQ, Gage R&R studies, process capability studies, and design of experiments.
• Participate in failure investigations and in the development and implementation of action plans addressing internal corrective actions and audit findings.
• Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, and processes while staying current on medical, technical, and biomedical developments related to Abiomed products.
• Work with product development staff to ensure products under development are designed appropriately for manufacturing, testing, and inspection.

Qualifications

• Junior, Senior, or graduate student pursuing an engineering degree.
• Prior work experience is desired; medical device experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methods; Green Belt certification is preferred.
• Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to prioritize work and complete tasks in a timely manner with limited direct supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of SAP is desired.
