Job summary

Westlake is seeking a Chemical Engineer to optimize plant operations, ensuring safe, efficient production of quality products while maintaining environmental compliance. The role leads the process improvement effort via SPC and technical service expertise across the plant.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering and at least 2 years of experience in steady-state design or production, with strong communication skills and the ability to lead teams and influence

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in steady-state process design or production.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient computer skills, with good working knowledge of all standard company applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
• Ability to lead groups of people
• Ability to make sound decisions based upon technical information

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, compliant production of quality products at specified rates.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using SPC and CIP.
• Support SIT/USIT, PACE, and SafeStart programs.
• Identify plant improvements and troubleshoot large systems.
• Prepare reports and capital project requests.
• Manage small teams to meet objectives.
