Job summary

Nordex SE in the United States is seeking a Production Engineer to support the design, development, and delivery of wind energy projects. You will work within the Production team, report to the Production Manager, and drive improvements across production processes.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, KPI monitoring, and safety, with opportunities to lead project work, implement CAPA actions, and participate in audits across facilities and sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing (Wind energy, Automotive, Aerospace, Heavy equipment or Industrial).
• Hands-on experience in manufacturing or assembly operations.
• ERP/MES systems experience, SAP commonly used.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production area requirements to ensure tools and resources meet the production schedule.
• Monitor and report production KPIs to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives with CAPA to enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
• Provide technical support to production teams and foster a safe, high-performance environment.
• Lead or participate in production-related projects to improve efficiency, capacity, and process stability.
• Improve workstation/line layouts in coordination with IE, HSE, and other departments.
• Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Support RCA and define CAPA for defects and deviations.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks and ergonomic concerns on the shop floor.
• Support workforce planning and cross-training initiatives.
• Participate in audits (internal, customer, regulatory).
• Lead cross-functional improvement and problem-solving with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

The role of Production Engineer directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. The Production Engineer will be working within the Production team, reporting to the Production Manager. The Production Engineer is responsible for managing and participating in both local and global production-related projects, as well as for the development and implementation of new processes across the production department.

The Production Engineer will collaborate with various departments and provide technical training and support, ensuring efficient planning and monitoring production process. Your role is to drive continuous improvement and ensure smooth production operations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Analyze production area requirements based on assembly plans and ensure the timely availability of tools, equipment, and resources to meet the production schedule.
• Monitor, analyze, and report production KPIs to identify performance gaps and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing corrective and preventive action plans to enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Provide technical support and guidance to production teams, fostering a collaborative, safe, and high-performance work environment.
• Participate in and manage production-related projects aimed at improving efficiency, capacity, and process stability.
• Contribute to the improvement and optimization of workstation and line layouts in coordination with Industrial Engineering, HSE, and other relevant departments.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, company standards, and best practices.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and define corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) related to defects, non-conformities, and process deviations.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks, ergonomic concerns, and unsafe conditions on the shop floor.
• Support workforce planning activities, including skills matrix development and cross-training initiatives to enhance flexibility and resilience.
• Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory or certification inspections.
• Lead or actively participate in cross-functional improvement and problem-solving initiatives involving Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline required.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline (preferred).
• 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing of Wind energy, Automotive, Aerospace, Heavy equipment or Industrial manufacturing.
• Hands on experience in manufacturing or assembly operations
• Process improvement and KPI monitoring
• Root cause analysis (RCA, CAPA)
• Safety and quality initiatives
• ERP/MES systems (SAP commonly)
• Shop floor support experience working with operators, supervisors, and maintenance
• Participation in audits, layout changes, and small to mid size projects
• CAPEX projects and layout redesigns
• Experience with large assemblies and heavy components
• Proven continuous improvement results
• Ability to work in shift-based or dynamic production environments
• Ability to read and interpret electrical or mechanical schematics and assembly instructions.
• Understanding of ISO 9000:2000 Quality System is a plus.
• Ability to travel domestic and international locations to project sites and on business as required with the ability to obtain a passport.
• Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
