Job summary

Hanwha Philly Shipyard in the United States seeks a Mechanical/Structural Engineer to plan lifting, installation, and movement of heavy blocks and equipment. You will report to the Production Engineering Manager and coordinate with planners, engineers, and other staff.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Mechanical, Civil, or Construction Engineering; 4–6 years in engineering; familiarity with structural steel design; and proficiency with AutoCAD, Aveva Marine, MSC-Patran, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Construction Engineering.
• 4–6 years in an engineering role with a strong mechanical and structural background.
• Experience with moving and lifting large objects in industrial environments; related gear experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with structural steel design.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contribute to problem solving and project management to complete tasks.
• Report to the production engineering manager and interface with planners and engineers.
• Plan safe lifting, handling, and movement of blocks and structures.
• Develop center of gravity calculations and padeye arrangements for lifting operations.
• Support launching, docking, and outfitting equipment installation as assigned.
• Perform design analysis and support calculations for projects.
• Carry out other related tasks as required.
