Job summary

Siemens in the United States is seeking a Production Engineer for Lexington, NC to provide real-time shop-floor support, coordinate with Production, Test, and Quality teams, and drive continuous improvement; onboarding includes about one month in Sacramento, CA.

You will evaluate design issues, ensure fit and function on the production floor, and prepare repair procedures and field modifications for various platforms.

Position Overview:

This Production Engineer role in Lexington, NC provides direct engineering support to manufacturing operations with a strong focus on real-time shop-floor issue resolution, Redmine evaluation and documentation, and effective cross-functional collaboration. The position works closely with Production, Test, and Quality teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations while driving continuous improvement across processes. The role includes approximately one month of onboarding and training in Sacramento, CA to ensure a strong foundation before transitioning fully into site responsibilities.

What your day‑to‑day will look like:
  • Conduct engineering evaluations for design-related issues identified in production or in revenue service. Lead the resolution of complex issues that require collaboration across multiple engineering groups to minimize production schedule impact.
  • Ensuring the fit, form and function of the specified design is conveyed to and carried out on the production floor.
  • Creating repair procedures, field modification instructions, and design fixes, depending on the platform and the complexity of the issues.
To thrive in this role, you have:
  • Associate degree in related field with 5 or more years of similar work experience.
  • Experience designing with 3D CAD modeling software (completed coursework can be considered as experience).
We would be impressed if you had:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Welded Steel Structures design,
  • Large and small welded and/or bolted assemblies
  • Mechanical Electrical integration
  • Designing sheet metal parts
  • Fiberglass and plastic part design
  • Experience creating bill of materials
  • Releasing parts using Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN, ECO)
