Job summary

JTEKT Automotive North America in Morristown, TN is seeking an engineer to provide services to assigned manufacturing areas, support maintenance with machine troubleshooting, and drive quality, productivity, and cost improvements.

The role includes supporting new capital projects, preparing engineering reports, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and tooling design, with emphasis on high-volume manufacturing and TS16949/ISO14001 awareness.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree required with 5+ years in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience with capital equipment procurement and installation.
  • Proficient in reading process sheets, PFMEA and control plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering services to assigned manufacturing areas and reduce downtime.
  • Assist with new capital projects, equipment procurement, installation and grooming.
  • Support maintenance with machine troubleshooting and quality/productivity improvements.

Job description

Summary/Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide engineering services to assigned manufacturing areas. This position also helps Maintenance with machine troubleshooting; supports manufacturing with quality/productivity & cost improvements; assists with new capital project purchases; develops engineering reports; and other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities
  • Daily Manufacturing Support aimed at reducing downtime reducing costs, quality improvements and productivity gains
  • Assist in new project startup and new equipment procurement, installation and grooming.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Automated equipment troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing.
  • Capital procurement experience and preparation for production.
  • Ability to analyze statistical data and produce presentations.
  • Knowledge of various cutting tools, fixture design, tooling design, and gage design.
  • CNC Programming Experience.
  • Familiar with TS16949 and ISO14001 requirements for producing Process Sheets, Control Plans and PFMEA documentation.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems.
  • Close tolerance measurement.
  • Work without close supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment utilizing effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative, with ability to make decisions.
  • Positive attitude & ability to prioritize and deal with multiple assignments and stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and related software, including MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Experience with CBN grinding is a plus.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.
Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or B. A./Associate Degree in Engineering with minimum 5years experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
