Job summary

Ashland is seeking a Production Engineer for its Columbus, OH plant. This is a visible role reporting to the Production Manager, supporting 24/7 GMP batch operations across APIs, intermediates, personal care, and specialty chemicals.

You will partner with site and corporate R&D to scale chemistries from lab to plant, assist with capital projects and new equipment, and analyze data to improve quality and yield while ensuring safety. Travel about 10% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • 1–5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Strong technical background in organic chemistry and unit operations.
  • Preferred: GMP and/or Process Safety Management (PSM) experience; Six Sigma yellow/green belt with experimental design.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for manufacturing personnel for process troubleshooting, safety, and quality at a GMP batch facility.
  • Collaborate with site and R&D staff to scale chemistries from lab scale to plant scale.
  • Support site engineering in capital projects and new equipment commissioning.
  • Collect and analyze process data to improve batch quality and yield.
  • Coordinate with quality, maintenance, and material groups to meet production goals safely and on time.
  • Support Process Safety Management through PHA participation, MOC processing, and SOP improvements.
  • Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives with Production Manager.
  • Estimated travel of 10% to support site projects and training.

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer to join our Ashland LLC business at our Columbus, OH plant . This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the manufacturing function. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing personnel for process troubleshooting, safety, and quality at a 24/7 GMP batch facility producing APIs and intermediates, personal care products, and specialty chemicals
  • Work collaboratively with site and corporate R&D staff to scale new chemistries from lab scale to plant scale
  • Support site engineering in the design and implementation of capital projects and support new equipment coming on-line
  • Collect and analyze data from processes to help make decisions regarding batch quality and yield.
  • Work cross-functionally with site quality, maintenance, and materials departments to meet strategic production goals in a safe and timely manner
  • Support Process Safety Management efforts by participating in Process Hazard Analyses, submitting Management of Change requests, updating and improving operating procedures, and recommending and implementing process changes when appropriate
  • Support Production Manager and staff with ongoing continuous improvement efforts
  • Estimated travel of 10% to support site projects and gain on-the-job training as necessary
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 1-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing setting
  • A strong technical background in organic chemistry and unit operations
Preferred Skills
  • Previous experience working in a GMP and/or PSM facility
  • Six Sigma yellow or green belt certification with experience in experimental design and analysis
