Job summary

NSG Group in Ohio is seeking a production associate to operate and support the float glass line in a 12-hour shift rotation. You will follow SOPs, meet customer specs, load and unload materials, and ensure quality while maintaining safety.

You must be dependable with good attendance and communicate effectively with crew. The role requires long periods of standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and willingness to work days/nights and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Produce float glass in accordance with all SOP's and customer specifications
• Cut, pack, and store stoce and block size glass per SOP's
• Ensure produced parts meet customer specifications
• Load/Unload product and/or material and supplies as required and specified
• Pack finished product according to customer requirements.
• Respond to process emergencies as required
• Adhere to housekeeping standards.
• Participate in audits: STOP Audits, GO Audits, internal audit, cross facility, management and third-party registration audits.
• Participate in required training and successfully complete required assessments to verify understanding and knowledge
• Team Members are responsible for adhering to work standardization and associated training requirements.
• SPC data collection as required.
• Required to assist in training of others.
• Adhere to 5S and housekeeping standards and responsible for clean-up of work areas upon completion of tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Responsible to accept a variety of assignments ranging from packaging glass, forklift operations and glassmaking tasks.
• Team members are responsible for producing various products in accordance with all work instructions, quality and safety expectations.

Training Requirements

• Overview of all the plant and departmental safety rules.
• Overview of all the procedures, work instructions and equipment applicable to the job. Will need to perform these items to the satisfaction of the immediate supervisor.
• The trainee will be qualified for this task after passing a skills test. He/she will be periodically evaluated and upgraded.

Education/ Requirements

• High School diploma or GED

• Must be dependable, self-motivated and have an excellent attendance record. Must be willing to accept responsibility. Must be innovative and pro-active. Within the scope of a job assignment, must be willing to do whatever is necessary to accomplish the assigned task.

Physical Demands:

• The role involves prolonged periods of standing and walking, often exceeding 8 hours per day.
• he position also requires the ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift items over 20 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally exposed to plant environment including noise, dust, dirt and vibrations, extreme climate changes / changes in weather
• Ability to work at elevated work stations
• Availability to work for extended periods during emergency repair work
• Availability as needed to work on both a scheduled and call-out basis, and the ability to work at the assigned job site.
• Willing to work shift work and assist in other areas of department or site as needed.
• Job schedule/working hours are determined by crew assigned– unless modified by supervisor due to emergency needs.
• The incumbent will work a 4-set shift rotation.12 hour shifts that rotate from 1st to 2nd shift every 4 weeks. 4 weeks are spent on first shift 6:00am-6:00pm, the following 4 weeks are spent 6:00pm-6:00am, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

A successful candidate must be physically capable of performing these tasks safely and consistently in a manufacturing setting. These requirements are not all inclusive.
