Job description

McCormick & Company, Inc., a global leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full-time Production Crew Lead. This new hire will work in Maryland Manufacturing Center, located in Belcamp, MD.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Crew Leader will serve as a working leader, overseeing daily operations and stepping in to perform technician duties when necessary. This position requires a strong focus on coaching, developing, and mentoring team members to foster continuous growth.

The Crew Leader will be responsible for ensuring the overall performance of the Pre-Weigh team, meeting key objectives in quality, safety, sanitation, GMP compliance, customer service, and process reliability. This role is essential in driving high performance within the team.

Additionally, the Crew Leader will engage in cross-functional problem-solving, contribute to the creation, updating, and auditing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and propose process improvements to optimize operational efficiency.

A successful Crew Leader must be flexible, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Distributes daily workload to fulfill department goals and requirements
  • Responsible for coaching, developing, and mentoring team members to ensure individual and team success
  • Scheduling team vacations and arranging for workforce coverage
  • Daily communication with the Team Manager and other Crew Leaders
  • Ensuring product meets quality standards
  • Facilitates and leads continuous improvement initiatives
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, lead, and empower team members in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Investigate and communicate root cause analysis for failures, including recommendations and implementing solutions
  • Coordinate teamwork among team members
  • Leading meetings for production tracking, problem-solving, and team development
  • Building team member commitment
  • Lead plant safety initiatives and ensure a safe work environment
  • Support and lead the growth of McCormick’s High-Performance Work System
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ year of pre-weigh experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Fork Truck Certification
  • Thorough understanding of SAP
  • Valid Driver’s license and transportation to travel between other McCormick facilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form
  • Ability to facilitate teamwork
  • Ability to effectively run meetings
  • Ability to work overtime/weekends as required
  • Ability to train others
  • PAPR/Respirator use may be required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Prior or Current SAP experience

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Dividend Program.
