Job description

The Production Coordinator supports the Production Manager and may supervise one or more departments for a production. Departments may include, but are not limited to, Pre-Production, Script, Story, Editorial, Visual Development, Assets, Layout/Animation, Light/Comp, and Post Production.

Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Los Angeles, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Requires knowledge and may be responsible for coordinating one or more departments.
  • Track progress of departments through various tracking software.
  • Maintain and track the status of their respective episodic or department schedules.
  • Update Production Manager and Line Producer with current department statuses/issues.
  • Organize and maintain production and artwork files on the server.
  • Ensure artists receive necessary launch materials for their episodic or departmental work.
  • Coordinate, prep, and schedule production meetings.
  • Attend production meetings/ editorial reviews/ dailies and take notes. Communicate notes or feedback to other departments as needed.
  • Prepare departmental or episodic breakdowns as needed. Along with Line Producer and Production Manager, help facilitate and review departmental or episodic bids.
  • Communicate with vendor studio regarding episodic or departmental deliveries. Elevate appropriate information to Production Manager and Line Producer.
  • Attend vendor meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate workflow between respective department heads with Executive Producers.
  • Coordinate travel for production.
  • Order office supplies for the department.
  • Special projects as needed.
  • Keep supervisors advised by providing accurate and timely information.
  • Direct people both internally and externally to the correct department to get the information that is needed.
  • Build trusting and open relationships with productions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous series animation office or project experience.
  • Highly organized, resourceful and diligent with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced department.
  • Must be willing to take direction.
  • Able to work independently and set appropriate priorities.
  • Take direction when needed and also take the initiative where applicable.
  • Able to maintain a high level of discretion.
  • Computer and technology literate – familiarity with Mac/PC operating systems, Photoshop, Storyboard Pro, Shotgrid, Microsoft Suite, and Google Ecosystem.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $25.00/hour to $31.00/hour. This role may also qualify for incentives and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
