Job summary

Savannah College of Art and Design is seeking a Production Coordinator for the School of Film and Acting to support live theater productions, music events, student performances and other university activities.

You will mentor student stage managers, manage budgets, book venues, coordinate transportation, and supervise load-ins for Mondanaro Theatre, Lucas Theatre for the Arts, Trustees Theater, and site-specific events. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in theater management, film production, stage management, technical direction, or related field.
• At least three years of professional experience as stage manager, film assistant director, company manager, house manager, or technical director.
• Proficiency with relevant technologies and software.
• Proven track record building and maintaining budgets and related systems.
• Experience with leading and training students in stage management.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a production coordinator within the fast-paced School of Film and Acting, you will provide critical support during production season, including live theater productions, music events, student performances, and other university and departmental activities.

To support productions, you will:

• Be a production manager or mentor student stage managers for all departmental auditions, rehearsals, and performances
• Act as head bookkeeper and budget manager for productions and related expenditures
• Oversee and direct house management duties for Mondanaro Theatre, the Lucas Theatre for the Arts, Trustees Theater, classroom performances, and site-specific events
• Handle off-site performances
• Coordinate equipment transportation and supervise load-ins

As a production coordinator, you must effectively:

• Book and manage contracts with guest artists or laborers, including travel and housing arrangements
• Develop, maintain, and use departmental student contact lists
• Schedule all venues for department rehearsals and performances
• Assemble a master calendar and update it regularly to ensure consistency between departmental and university-wide calendars

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in theater management, film production, stage management, technical direction, or a related field

• Experience with leading and training students in stage management

Preferred qualifications:

• At least five years of professional experience in regional theater, touring, or Broadway productions
• Advanced degree or certification in a related profession
• Leader or participant in relevant professional or educational certifications and associations
• Demonstrated ability with leading undergraduate and graduate students in stage management

Travel required:

• Less than 10%

Work hours:

The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
