Job description

Assignment Desk, a national video production company based in Charleston, SC, is looking for a Production Coordinator to join our team.

We help major sports networks, news organizations, entertainment companies, and corporate clients produce video shoots across the country. Our job is ensuring the right crews, equipment, and logistics come together, often on tight deadlines.

Did you watch the Super Bowl, NBA All-Star Game, or HGTV’s House Hunters this year? Those are the kinds of productions our crews work on. Our team coordinates the camera crews and field production that make those shows happen.

The best part? We get to do it while working in Charleston, South Carolina.

Is this the entry point into the television business you’re looking for? Some use a job like this to launch careers across sports, news, and entertainment. Others build a great life here in Charleston working in media and production.

We’re growing and looking for someone who wants to grow with us.

What This Job Is

This is a logistics and operations role, similar to an Assignment Desk at a TV news station.

You will help book camera crews, coordinate video shoots across the country, and keep communication flowing between clients, crews, and our internal production team.

This job is fast-paced, deadline driven, and detail heavy.

What This Job Is NOT

This is not a creative role.

You won’t be editing.

You won’t be directing shoots.

You won’t be traveling to set.

Instead, you’ll be the person making the shoots happen behind the scenes.

There is also an on-call rotation, because in television and production things happen outside normal business hours and in all time zones.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate video shoots for clients across the world.
  • Book camera crews, field producers, audio technicians and equipment.
  • Negotiate crew rates and confirm shoot requirements.
  • Communicate with clients, crews, and production staff throughout the production process.
  • Work under tight deadlines and high-pressure booking situations.
  • Research and source qualified crew members nationwide.
  • Track invoices and assist with entering invoices into our accounting system.
  • Maintain databases of crew, clients, and project information.
  • Assist in marketing the company through social media, promotions, giveaways, and outreach.
  • This role supports the Executives and Production Staff.

This position is 100% in person in our Mount Pleasant, SC office.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Comfortable making phone calls and building relationships.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly in a fast-moving environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Comfortable working with Google Workspace, MS Office, and QuickBooks.

Helpful but not required:

  • Knowledge of video production, freelance production, or broadcast news.
  • Marketing or sales experience.
  • Prior experience in television, film, or media production.
The Ideal Candidate

Someone who:

  • Shows up every day ready to work.
  • Takes pride and accountability in their work.
  • Can Google and/or Chat something before asking a question.
  • Will pick up the phone and call a real human when needed.
  • Actually likes content on linear, streaming and/or YouTube.
  • Works well with a team.
  • Has integrity and does the right thing.
  • Is curious and always learning.

This job rewards people who take initiative. If you’re the kind of person who can figure things out, make the call, and solve the problem before someone asks, you’ll do very well here.

If you’ve ever been the person in your friend group who actually gets things done, this job might be for you.

Before You Apply

We receive a lot of applications. To help us find people who pay attention to details (a critical part of this job), please include the following in your cover letter:
