Job summary

Openwork in Houston, TX is hiring a Production Controller to own the master production schedule and coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing. This role ensures customer delivery commitments are met through planning and data accuracy in ERP/MRP systems.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of production planning experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to drive cross-functional actions in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production planning, scheduling, materials management, or manufacturing operations experience.
• Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP-driven planning.
• Epicor experience strongly preferred.
• Excel; PivotTables a plus.
• Experience in make-to-order, engineer-to-order, or low-volume/high-mix manufacturing.
• Experience with fabrication, machining, welding, or vertical integration beneficial.
• Bachelor's degree in Operations, Engineering, or related field; certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the master production schedule based on demand, materials, labor, and capacity.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and release production orders.
• Maintain accurate customer promise dates and communicate status.
• Monitor WIP and address shortages, delays, and changing pri orities.
• Lead weekly backlog meetings with Operations, Sales, and Engineering.
• Identify capacity bottlenecks and coordinate corrective actions.
• Manage reschedules and communicate changes across departments.
• Maintain ERP/MRP data, routings, and reporting tools.
• Track schedule attainment, capacity utilization, backlog, and on-time delivery.
• Coordinate with Purchasing on material shortages and outsourced work.
