Job Title: Production Content Designer

JOB SUMMARY: The Production & Content Designer’s primary responsibility is the development of compelling materials and communication products that can be used with both targeted and broad audiences. Knowledge and experience with various communication and design platforms is essential to role success.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, design and format content for a broad array of communications collateral including, but not limited to: policy briefs, reports, white papers, social media, websites, presentations, audio and video products.
  • Execute and guide the production of communications projects from concept to final deliverables with a high degree of independence.
  • Observe organizational brand standards in public-facing communications products.
  • Maintain awareness of and close alignment with the organization’s strategic and legislative priorities in communications projects.
  • Provide communications support for advocacy strategies and engagement of various constituencies.
  • Conduct interviews and capture audio/visual content at organizational activities and events.
  • Write speeches and develop talking points for staff, organizational partners and advocates.
  • Collaborate with all parts of the organization and with direct supervisor to ensure cohesion among functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in communicating with a variety of audiences across multiple platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite applications, Canva and email marketing platforms.
  • Experience with WordPress and/or other website content management tools.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Comfort with networking and building new relationships with contacts in local, state and federal government, and other public and private organizations.
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of state/federal government systems and legislative processes.
  • Working knowledge of Nebraska’s political context and the ability to promote First Five Nebraska’s agenda in a non-partisan manner.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and manage multiple activities at once.
  • Motivated by opportunities for skills enhancement, professional development, and contributing to a positive, collaborative work environment.

Education And Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, web development or commensurate work experience in a related field.
  • 3+ or more years of relevant experience.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to attend and contribute to meetings (often requiring sitting, standing, walking, and analyzing information in team settings).
  • The employee will sometimes need to travel to locations within and outside of the state. Some travel will include overnight stays.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position based in Lincoln, Nebraska. During the legislative session, work hours are commonly required outside of typical business hours.
