Job summary

Axcelis Technologies seeks a Production Buyer II in Beverly, MA (Hybrid) to drive procurement excellence for materials, components, and services supporting advanced manufacturing.

You will review requisitions, process POs and RFQs, maintain BOMs and supplier records, and develop new sources while partnering with manufacturing, planning, engineering, and QA to ensure on-time, cost-effective supply with top quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of professional procurement experience.
• Experience with ERP/MRP or supply chain systems preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with suppliers and manufacturing operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze purchase requisitions and coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering teams.
• Process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, PO changes, and RFQs with suppliers.
• Maintain procurement data and ensure accuracy and integrity of supply chain information.
• Create and maintain BOMs, part numbers, commodity information, supplier records, and other enterprise data.
• Support procurement initiatives including part parameter maintenance, quote table maintenance, supplier database updates, and error-report analysis.
• Perform cost analysis and volume planning for assigned commodities, materials, components, equipment, and services.
• Monitor cost, schedule, and scope of supplier agreements and procurements to achieve the best value.
• Develop new supply sources and evaluate alternative suppliers.
• Recommend cost-saving opportunities and make-versus-buy analyses.
• Collaborate with suppliers and QA to resolve quality, delivery, and performance issues.
• Support commodity management activities including market trend assessments and price analysis.
• Build and maintain expertise in assigned domestic and/or global commodity categories.

Location: Beverly, MA (Hybrid)

Reports to: Supply Chain Optimization Manager

Travel Required: Minimal (less than 10%)

As a Buyer, you will support procurement and commodity management activities by working closely with manufacturing, planning, engineering, quality, and suppliers to ensure the timely, cost-effective acquisition of materials, components, equipment, and services.

What You'll Do

• Review and analyze purchase requisitions and coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering teams.
• Process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, purchase order changes, and requests for quotations (RFQs) with suppliers.
• Maintain procurement business system data and ensure the accuracy and integrity of supply chain information.
• Create and maintain bills of material (BOMs), part numbers, commodity information, supplier records, and other enterprise system data.
• Support procurement team initiatives including part parameter maintenance, quote table maintenance, supplier database updates, and error-report analysis.
• Perform cost analysis and volume planning for assigned commodities, materials, components, equipment, and services.
• Monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned supplier agreements and procurements to achieve the highest quality at the best value.
• Develop new supply sources and evaluate alternative suppliers when existing vendors are no longer competitive.
• Recommend cost-saving opportunities, including make-versus-buy analyses and alternative sourcing strategies.
• Work closely with suppliers and Quality Assurance to resolve quality, delivery, and performance issues.
• Support commodity management activities including commodity business plans, market trend assessments, pricing analysis, and product availability reviews.
• Build and maintain expertise in assigned domestic and/or global commodity categories.

What You Need

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, supply chain, or a related business function preferred.
• Experience working with ERP, MRP, or supply chain management systems preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with suppliers and supporting manufacturing operations preferred.

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE

$68,099.09 - $102,148.63

This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.

Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as you develop within the role.

Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular employees working 20+ hours a week).
